Adoptions

Fairmount Pet Shoppe is committed to saving pets' lives . We work with several shelters and rescue groups to find loving families for homeless pets. We help overcrowded shelters free up space for more needy pets by fostering cats and kittens in the store. These pets are always available for adoption. If you see one and fall in love, you can fill out an adoption application right in the shop.  We also have regular adoption events where a larger number of pets are available including cats and dogs, and sometimes bunnies. The dates of these adoption events will be announced on our home page. If you are thinking of adding a pet to your life, think adoption first!

The Process

If you are ready to adopt, GREAT!  First you will need to come into the shop and fill out an application.  When you come in please bring two forms of identification, proof of home ownership, or your landlord's contact information.   Once filled the application will be proccessed, taking 1-7 days.  If you are approved you will need to provide the adoption fee required.  The current adoption fee for kittens up to 6 months old is $75.00.  The adoption fee for cats over 6 months is $50.00. One hundred percent of these fees go to covering the cost of spaying / neutering, testing, vaccinations, and rescue efforts.

We want to thank you for saving a pet's life, so for every pet adopted at Fairmount Pet Shoppe you will save 15% off your first purchase.  If you have adopted a pet from another location such as a shelter or rescue group, we still want to thank you! Bring in proof of adoption and you will save 15% off one purchase. We have all the supplies you need for your new pet including carriers, crates, litter boxes, beds, bowls, and food.
