Fairmount Pet Shoppe is committed to saving pets’ lives. We work with several shelters and rescue groups to find loving families for homeless pets. We sometimes have cats for adoption at the shop from Fairmount-based rescue, Green Street Rescue. If you are thinking of adding a pet to your life, think adoption first!

Fill out an application to adopt one of our cats with their rescue below. Please note that all application processing and communication regarding adoptions is done by the rescue workers, and the store staff cannot update you on the status of any applications.

Update: Portia has been adopted! Meet our newest adoptable, Portia! This movie star is very sweet, and enjoys love and attention from relaxed individuals! She is a grey, black, and white tabby cat, and has a soft, short length coat. Her big green eyes radiate love and affection and she loves to cuddle and be held. Friendly and outgoing, Portia would make a lovely pet for anyone looking for a calm, relaxed little snuggle bug. Stop in today to give give her some love!

Meet our new adoptable, Bagpipe!

Bagpipe is a sweet girl, aptly named after an instrument that squeaks each time you touch it! With bright eyes and a clipped ear, this lovely little one warms right up with a few ear scratches. Bagpipe has a complicated relationship with grooming (she doesn’t much!), so she will need a loving and attentive home to brush her everyday. Come meet this pretty kitty!

Fiona is a small but full grown dilute tortie who is very sweet and friendly! She is very quiet and docile and loves to be held. Fiona loves people & kids, and doesn’t mind dogs, so she’d be a great fit for any family. She was rescued off the street at 28th & Poplar by volunteers.

Meet Whipoorwill! She was found by volunteers hanging around their house near Temple University. Although she took a little while to warm up to her foster home after she was rescued, she learned to love the company of humans. This lady looks petite, and has the face of a kitten, but is actually a full-grown adult! She loves to be held and will purr when she is picked up!

Meet Feather! This sweet lady was recently rescued and is ready to find her forever home. She is as gentle and soft as her name implies. She’s a bit shy at first but enjoys a good scratch behind her ears. A reminder that we will be closed this Sunday, July 4th. We have a great selection of calming products, calming treats, and activity toys to keep your pets calm and entertained during the big day! Make sure that you have what you need, and stop by before Sunday!

More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and happy! We will be CLOSED Sunday, July 4th, so make sure you have all the supplies that you need. Check out the 4th of July section of our online shopping website for themed toys, activity toys, calming products, and ID tags.

We are finally back to our regular, pre-pandemic hours! We will be open 10am-7pm on weekdays, 10am-6pm on Saturdays, and 11am-5pm on Sundays. We are allowing for in-store shopping again, while limiting the number of parties inside the store to prevent overcrowding. We ask that all in-store customers wear a mask covering both mouth and nose. We’re excited to see you again!
